The fluorite formed first from mineral-rich hydrothermal fluids, crystallising into translucent cubic crystals with its characteristic violet colouring produced by trace elements and natural irradiation. During a later stage of mineralisation, fluorine-rich solutions deposited delicate radiating creedite crystals across the fluorite, producing the vivid yellow crystal clusters that make specimens from the Dachang Mine especially desirable.
