Calcite forms when calcium-rich waters deposit calcium carbonate within cavities and fractures in limestone and other sedimentary rocks. Under the right conditions, these minerals slowly crystallise into the distinctive pointed scalenohedral crystals known as Dogtooth Calcite.
The transparent to milky appearance results from exceptionally pure calcium carbonate, while subtle internal fractures create the shimmering, pearly reflections visible throughout the specimen.
